Channels Power Tool is a very flexible utility tool. that speeds up your workflow and let you work with the channels of different color modes: RGB, Lab, Cmyk. Thanks to the channels preview you will able to seize and consequently load or apply the best mask from the available channels in order to protect or enhance some areas of the image. CPT works as a Photoshop Panel.

Channel Preview


Get an immediate preview of the available channels.

In a very fast way CPT  generates a low-res preview , of the Lab, RGB, Cmyk. channels of your working document, visualized in a separate file as a "Contact Sheet" . This will help you to understand the potentials stored in the channels.
With this simple first step ou will be able to evaluate, to work and to edit channels for masking and blending to achieve better channels and improve and enhance your image.
You don't need to save this  temporary file,  just close it without any warning or If you wish you may save it as a reference.

With the powerful "Apply Image" option  you will be able to load direct or inverted masks using a specific channel or a composite combination of them in three different color spaces. You may also modify the opacity and with our tutorial help easily modify the masks.

A perfect companion of ALCE. Some suggestions from Roberto Bigano.

Channels Power Tool is of course a perfect companion of ALCE.
Apply ALCE at the preferred value. Don't worry if the result is too harsh in some areas of the image. Create a blank mask in the ALCE layer, get a preview of the channels. Select the best channel to protect the areas where you want to reduce the ALCE effect.
Use the Apply Image function to load the channel. I usually load it inverted at 30% opacity. Then, using a curve directly on the mask I increase the density and the contrast of the mask itself. Thanks to the immediate Photoshop actual pixel preview I'm able to fine tune the final result.

Below. Left the original ALCE 70 applied without any mask. The result was very good, but too harsh in the face. In the middle the original. On the right the final result with the mask modified as shown above.
If you need to protect the darker areas you must load the channel not inverted.
